John C. Lettera has over 17 years of legal experience and over 25 years experience in investment management, real estate debt originations and acquisitions as well as equity investing. John founded and has successfully managed two financing firms worth well over $100 million. John started his legal career as an Associate at the law firm of Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy LLP, where he represented public and private clients in a range of transactions including mergers, acquisitions, asset sales, restructurings, going-private transactions and leveraged buyouts, equity and debt financings, DIP financing, creditor committee representation and structuring private equity transactions. John was a founding member, President and CEO of Ramapo Realty LLC, a real estate debt advisory firm providing short-term, secured mortgage loans to qualifying real estate borrowers. John has extensive experience in real estate litigation as well as structuring complex real estate transactions. John is a member of the New York State Bar and an adjunct professor at Pace University School of Law. John is also a veteran being a proud member of the U.S. Marine Corps and served in the Middle East. John has received extensive recognition for his contributions to the legal, commercial real estate, hedge fund and finance communities, including being an honored recipient of Pace University School of Law’s Leadership Award. John is involved in all aspects of portfolio management.
Bill Perkins is Managing Director of JCL Capital Partners and is responsible for the oversight of all phases of lending operations including origination, underwriting, and servicing. He plays a prominent role in setting strategy, assessing new markets, and expanding product and service offerings. Before joining JCL Capital, Bill spent 20+ years driving operational and strategic planning in the healthcare and real estate industries. During his 15-year career with Montefiore Medical Center, Bill led multiple complex initiatives leveraging data analytics to drive business productivity. He developed and directed high-performance teams with functional responsibility for financial and regulatory reporting, data architecture and analytics, process and workflow improvements, and project management. During his tenure, the organization achieved over $35MM in aggregate savings. In 2002, Bill founded Solaris Holding Corporation, where he managed a private portfolio of mortgages and developed experience in commercial lending with a focus on underwriting and appraisals of real property. His business and technology experience provides him with a unique regulatory, financial and data-driven approach to real estate investing. Bill earned a Bachelor of Science from Manhattan College and a Master of Public Health from New York Medical College.
Stephen is General Counsel of JCL Capital Partners. In such capacity, Stephen provides specialized strategic legal counsel in areas of securities and exchange regulatory compliance and general corporate law. In addition to serving as General Counsel of JCL Capital Partners, Stephen manages the Law Offices of Florek & Counsel, LLC, a New York, Westchester County-based law firm with focuses in areas such as business law, alternative finance and intellectual property. Prior to joining JCL Capital Partners, Stephen provided independent legal counsel to a number of respected law firms and corporate entities throughout the New York tri-state area. As a frequent contributor, author and guest lecturer on matters concerning the regulatory framework lending itself to the “crowdfunding” industry, Stephen has proven himself a dynamic member of our team.
As Controller for JCL Capital, David Powers oversees profit and loss reporting, investor reporting, and tax compliance.
David Powers began his career in the New York office of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in 2004. As a member of the Investment Management Tax team, he serviced some of the firm’s highest-profile Hedge Fund and Private Equity clients from a US tax perspective. In 2008 David relocated to Hong Kong and joined DKR Oasis, a $3 billion dollar multi-strategy hedge fund with offices in seven countries. As the Director of Global Taxation, David worked closely with the general counsel and CFO and was responsible for taxation issues related to global investments, fund tax compliance, management company and principal tax issues as well as cost controls and transfer pricing. In 2010 David left DKR Oasis to help start Turiya Capital Management. As Head of Finance, David was responsible for all tax and accounting matters related to launching the firm, a Hong Kong-based, Asia-focused long-short equity fund with three corporate offices. He was responsible for choosing and implementing the company’s general ledger as well as actively involved in the implementation of the firm’s order management system and portfolio management system. David left Turiya in 2011 and helped launch Sylebra Capital Management, a Hong Kong-based TMT long-short equity fund. At Sylebra, David held the titles of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer. He was the most senior non-investment professional and was responsible for finance, accounting, tax, HR, IT, investor relations and everything else non-investment related. In 2013, David returned to NY and formed a CPA firm which focuses on helping individuals and small businesses with accounting and tax issues with a specialization in real estate investment.
David is a licensed CPA in NY and FL, a licensed real estate broker in NY and holds a real estate salesperson’s license in FL. David has an MS in Taxation from Pace University and currently attends the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University (Class of 2017) where he is a member of the Pace Environmental Law review and President of the Land Use and Sustainable Development Law Society. David has been investing in real estate for almost 15 years and currently owns and manages twelve properties in six states through various entities.
Albert “Al” Alfredo is Director of Sales for JCL Capital and brings an extensive background in real estate financing and business planning to the firm. Al began his career with Dean Witter as a commodities account executive and later as a business broker with Harry Roman & Company. Subsequently, Al has spent the past 25 years as a real estate entrepreneur partnering with clients to develop and execute complex strategies to identify and maximize real estate value. He has consulted on numerous transactions along all phases of real estate development from property acquisition, construction and renovation, through refinancing and sales. Al’s focus on building and cultivating relationships has resulted in the development of an extensive client network throughout the U.S. Al attended the University of Connecticut and earned a BS degree in Landscape Design with a minor in business.
Grant Rowland is Regional Director of JCL Capital Partners. In such capacity, Grant is responsible for all phases of lending operations including origination, underwriting, and servicing in the New England market. Prior to joining JCL Capital, Grant was in corporate development where he led cross-border mergers, acquisitions and strategic finance projects totaling $2 billion in value.
Prior to his role in corporate development, Grant led mergers, acquisitions, and capital raising for investment banking firms in Boston, Charlotte, and New York City. He started his career with McColl Partners, a boutique investment bank founded by former Bank of America Chairman and CEO, Hugh McColl, where he worked closely with private equity, family-owned businesses, and entrepreneurial management teams.
Grant is a former United States Army officer. Upon commissioning, he served as a field artillery platoon leader in the 18th Airborne Corps and as a company commander with service in Iraq in 2003.
Grant received a bachelor of science from the United States Military Academy at West Point. Grant serves on the veteran advisory committee for the Massachusetts General Hospital and Red Sox Foundation Home Base Program. He and his wife, Kacie, live in the Boston area with their three daughters.
