Our Company

We provide short-term financing to borrowers with access to sensible real estate investment opportunities. We leverage our experience to provide unique debt solutions by creatively structuring loans that maximize borrower success and minimize our risk. We work with borrowers throughout the life of the loan and create take-out options, such as permanent financing, for those borrowers looking to refinance and hold assets.

Our Story

JCL CAPITAL PARTNERS ("JCL") is a privately held real estate investment firm. The principals at JCL have over fifty years of combined real estate experience and over ten years together with consistent strategy execution. John C. Lettera, the company's founding partner, began investing in real estate in 1991, during the nadir of the real estate market. Access to capital was severely restricted, and investors were genuinely panicked. Space in the capital stack was opening up as institutional lenders were sticking with safer loans. John capitalized on the opportunity as much of real estate is positioned below that top tier, falling either into the value-add category or in secondary or tertiary markets currently off the radar screen of the most risk-averse lenders. By mid-1992 our firm’s future strategy had already been formed, including a commitment to developing the skills necessary to underwrite and operate real estate assets, while constantly looking for new opportunities.

Over the years, JCL has continued to evolve. Our management team has grown to include a diverse combination of financial, legal, real estate, transactional and investment professionals. Certain things, such as technology, has changed over the years, but the fundamental aspects of building and maintaining relationships are still essential to our core values.

Our Approach

We realize every loan opportunity is unique and every borrower has a story. We apply common sense at every step of the loan process. Evaluating risk is a function of not just the asset underlying the investment but the strength of the sponsor and a viable exit strategy. Our depth of experience coupled with a diversity of thought enables us to carefully evaluate all aspects of a particular transaction.
